Dr. Patrick Sanger is a dual board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine, certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He trained at Yale University and earned his MD/PhD in biomedical informatics from the University of Washington, followed by residency in primary care internal medicine at University of California, San Francisco. Prior to founding his current practice, he served as a primary care physician at Palo Alto Medical Foundation.

Dr. Sanger offers a highly personalized, relationship-driven model of care designed for individuals who value depth, access, and long-term partnership in their health. His practice is intentionally structured around a very limited patient panel, enabling a level of attention, responsiveness, and continuity that is not possible in traditional medical settings.

His clinical philosophy blends the principles of “slow medicine”—prioritizing thoughtful, unhurried care—with a rigorous commitment to staying at the leading edge of medical science. With formal training in biomedical informatics, Dr. Sanger integrates emerging data, technologies, and evidence into a cohesive, individualized care strategy for each patient.

He is influenced by the Medicine 3.0 framework, focusing on extending healthspan through early, proactive, and precision-driven prevention. Central to his work is the optimization of metabolic health to reduce long-term risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and neurodegenerative conditions, while simultaneously enhancing day-to-day performance, energy, and resilience.

Dr. Sanger employs advanced diagnostics and longitudinal data to guide care, including continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), DEXA imaging, and VO₂ max testing. These tools support a highly iterative approach to improving strength, fitness, and body composition—aligned with the goal of sustaining peak physical and cognitive function throughout life.

His areas of expertise include preventive cardiology and lipid management, hormonal and menopausal health, sleep optimization, body composition and weight management, and the thoughtful use of pharmacologic and supplement-based interventions, including emerging geroprotective therapies.

Dr. Sanger is particularly experienced in working with individuals facing complex, high-acuity, or rapidly evolving health challenges. His model allows for intensive support during periods of instability, while also providing a long-term framework for sustained optimization and disease prevention.

He often frames his role through a guiding principle he shares with patients: “Your body is your ship, and you are the captain. I serve as your first mate—bringing expertise, perspective, and navigation, while you determine the course.”

Dr. Sanger lives locally with his wife—a naturopathic doctor and nurse practitioner—and their two daughters.
